The baby has plenty of space to move around and it keeps her safeOverall the playpen is good. They do not give you enough clips to make the L shape play pen which is initially why we wanted this set. They only give you enough clips For the square and rectangle shapes. That is our only complaint though. Otherwise a good sturdy playpenWe needed it to be largerI've had this for 2 months now. It's definitely cute and serves its purpose in keeping my crawler in a safe play space, especially I they to get things done around the house. I initially thought the 8 panels wouldn't provide enough play space for my now 7 month old, however it's more than enough room when all the panels are connected. I can lay in there and she still has room to crawl around and play with toys. She enjoys the interactive panel, and I even got balls to turn it into a temporary ball pit. She's been learning how to stand and using anything she can get her hands on, so quite naturally she uses the walls of the play area to hoist herself up. The walls are sturdy when locked together, and I like how she is able to firmly grip the vertical rails in her hand to help keep her balance. Only once has her arm ended up between the rails. She was NOT hurt, but I think it's to be expected on any sort of product like this. The only real con about this product is in disassembly. It can weaken the point of connection over time. So when you go to reassemble the panels, they're loose and won't snap into place anymore. Not a problem if you don't plan on constant disassembly. But if you move them around like I do to use in the doorways or expand the play area against a wall or couch, then it will become a bit of an issue.Age appropriateness:I don't think this is best for toddlers that are taller than the walls or know how to open the gate if you're using it as a "baby jail". I've been able to use this with a 1.5 year old and two 2.5 years old. The 1.5 year old enjoyed the play space, but the older toddlers push and pull on the tops of the walls and move the entire structure. I would say this product is best for tiny babies up to a year or so.Overall it is a nice playpen, study enough so far. It comes with some plastic parts to place in between the panels on top to keep them more sturdy, and they do work, though I wish it came with more to put on the bottom parts as well, just to have it even stiffer. Our daughter likes to kick the panels (she is 9 mo. old) and on the carpet, they do slide just a little bit, but not enough to worry me since the locks do keep them from separating. The panels are nice smooth plastic, nice round edges and of good quality and it is easy to assemble. I do like it can be shaped into a square, rectangle, L-shape or circular shape. We got this for her as soon she started to army (or commander) crawl, we used to keep her contained to an area with large pillows around us but as soon that wasn't doing the trick we thought it would be time for a playpen where she can crawl around freely and do some activity in a contained space. Trusting plus that it would help me have more of a chance to get stuff done around the house and she'll be in a safe place. The only thing is that she gets her legs stuck in between the window bars. There are 2 sizes and space separations. A larger one on the door where the space is larger (about the separation as in a crib) and all the rest have a narrower separation which where she gets stuck. When it first happened I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get her foot out, but the plastic is very smooth and I was able to slide her leg up to free her. She does cry everytime she does get stuck which breaks my heart. I have to use her baby monitor on this area to keep an eye on her if I were to be away from the room for a bit. So I do recommend to have this pen in an area to always have an eye on them or with a baby monitor, just as with anything, even if it is intended for a baby. I am hoping once she gets a bit bigger that her ankles won't fit in there anymore. For now, I just keep a close eye for that. She is much safer in there than out and about the house, that is for sure. Overall it is a good playpen, I am sure she will be using for years, even for later when she doesn't need it for just safety purposes, but just to separate where her play area will be and can have all her toys in one area, I might even get another set just to make the space larger when that time comes.A bit priceyWhen my son was younger this thing was great because it provides a safe place for him to play and watch YouTube. As he got older he started throwing his toys over the fence and eventually started running. One day he ran into the door and it popped open. I closed it and hit it, but not hard with my hand and realized it opened way way too easy. I used zip ties to close the door and eventually found myself zip tie-ing the panels to hold them together as well. I think the door coming open so easily could lead to an injury of a child. There is a label on the door saying so, but it doesn’t clarify the door opens so easily. The closing mechanism is flat toward the side the door opens just like a house door but it opens way to easy. I would recommend zip tie-ing the doors closed or not using the panels with doors and just stepping over the fence to exit and enter the playpen. We got two of these and put them together for a more comfortable area for him and an adult.
