Bought for my son for his 13th birthday.I read about, and bought EVERYTHING that Joué had to offer here on Amazon, so he could have every option available for this system. UNFORTUNATELY, due to the vague description on Amazon for the smaller pads I purchased (now I know that they were ONLY for the Joué Pro Board, and NOT for this Joué Play Board) they did not work on this system, so I had to return them.I also bought the “Joué Pro Option” upgrade for him, even though I still can’t get a good description of what the upgrade actually does, or how it’s different, even on the Joué website.It’s still very new to him, and a lot of practice is needed, BUT…All in all, this seems like a VERY versatile system, whether you are a beginner, or a professional. Plug and play.I look forward to what newer pads and upgrades are in the works for the Joué Play in the future.While it has limitations, the Joué Play is the most fun I've had with a controller. Playing on it feels very natural and being able to change the type of interface you use on the fly is huge for creativity. The app doesn't include the artists packs on Windows 10/11 yet, but it's very useable, and has recently been updated to include an export function; so you can sketch a song before exporting to your DAW of choice.The Pro option opens up the controller to all sorts of possibilities and you can assign specific configurations to multiples of the same pad. For instance, you could get two drum pads with one used for drumming while the other is used for DAW macros. The MPE function is nice, but make sure your DAW supports it before taking the plunge.There are some issues with interfering pressure inputs and strikes; two keys struck in the same horizontal plane will be attenuated proportionally to one another. This is a hard limitation of the board so it's good to be aware of the issue lest you chase down non-existent technique issues. The work-around is to either play it monophonically or hit it on a skew so you get the full output.The board itself is attractive and with solid construction; it's made with real wood! I highly recommend this controller from the novice to the dabbling musician. Using the Joué is a great way to open up new sounds for all kind of folks.I’ve had more midi controllers than I can remember but I think I finally found a keeper. It’s portable, durable and with different templates, it’s very flexible. As a guitarist, I didn’t expect the guitar template to be as useful as it is. I can easily play riffs and lines into midi notes then play them with any synth sound.This is one of the coolest controllers available. I've used MPE-enabled products before, and the Play is probably the easiest to get comfortable with. The app helps get started, the interchangeable surfaces give you plenty of flexibility, and the overall build quality is very sturdy so far.I'm having a blast and would recommend it to anyone looking to incorporate more natural human expression into their digital music creation.Love this instrument. It is a true innovative tool.
